The first day
…of May (and the rest of my life)
In 20 minutes I hand over the duck key to the space.
This morning I had to get rid of the very small remaining things, and garbage from in front of the space that was Curious & Kind.
I was feeling overwhelmed, teetering on desperate.
…so I did what I don’t normally do.
I posted on a Facebook for my area.

Are you in (or near) Lunenburg and have a truck, AND know how to take things to the dump…and are available early today?
I need something’s taken away, and could pay $100?
It’s not a lot of stuff. Message me?
******
And within in minutes I had an inbox seven messages deep.
Within in 15 minutes I was able to post this in the same group.
Edit: Holy wow! Y’all are AMAZING. I got so many offers and gratefully Connor David was able to run over quick and is already gone and on his way to the dump. Thank you to everyone who would have helped. You are all AWESOME.
I’m now sitting in a coffee shop near the space writing. I’ve had great chats with two friends about the end of Curious & Kind.
I’m messaging with a mum who’s pulled her autistic kiddo from a toxic learning situation, and am figuring out to help her with math tutoring.
I feel…excited, elated.
Today I was invited for lunch for a wondrous group of women who are in Lunenburg to learn English, and who came across Curious & Kind…organically, separately, and who have proffered their friendship.
Then I have to take my pup for her Lyme vaccine.
Then I get to help an artist set up in the Small Stiff gallery where I’m lucky to be curator.
Then I will drive to pick up my kids in the city and bring them home.
Tomorrow I will hang out with them.
Sunday I’m at the bookshop working.
Monday at Rosefinch.
Tuesday the gallery, then serving at a Cinquo de Mayo event.
Wednesday I’ll be serving at sushi.
…and Thursday I have off (though I’ve been reminded I have plans to go see the wondrous Catriona Sutton at Rosefinch, and I’m so excited!)
I love that this transition away from facilitating Curious & Kind is full of people reminding me that I’m loved, and have so many opportunities. That I’m a community member who will find my way.
I’ll write my tiny book later but I want to be sure to share THE AMAZING tiny book that Heather write for this prompt. It made be burst out into a fit of giggles. It was hard to breathe.
I am ever grateful for my friendship with Heather. That I get to be witness to her weekly creative process feels…like friendship magic.
As always. Your generous enthusiasm for her art and writing will be passed on.
