I’m just going to do prompt writing for today because the day is nearly done and I think it’ll be fun to write my day as a list, but reverse engineered so that I accomplished everything on it (because it’s already happened)
💖💖💖
Write a to-do list for your weekend but make it whimsical
•film an earth worm in the pouring rain
•get your pills at the pharmacy but also pick up some spay iridescent whale decorations for the pink sparkly every-day tree in your living room, oh and some special pills for your back because it’s been acting up
•visit the print maker and check in, pet a dog and meet a print artist and talk about both of you have a unique name that no one else in the world has
•order gluten free, onion free pad thai for you, your partner and your kiddo
•walk about with your iridescent umbrella, ask a tourist to take a picture of you in front of your favourite mural in town
•while waiting for your food go chat with some of your favourite barristas and get an iced mocha with oat milk, share art stories and dream possibilities together
•take the food home and listen to the critical reviews of the pad thai by your thirteen year old and agree on his hot take
•convince your partner (easily done) to go get root beer and ice cream to make a float for your kiddo but go on a side quest to a gallery you got a personal invite to, fall in love with two pieces of art, and then get invited up to the house of the artists for stories, chocolate, and popcorn
(I am now in love with these two paintings, and so enamoured of the artist who made them!)
•find out you the share the EXACT same birthdate, year and everything, with the artist’s son. June 12th, 1979. Except you were born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and he was born in Taiwan.
•reassure your child that you are indeed coming home to make root beer floats, and agree that yes, it should have taken less time
•go home, make a root beer float for your thirteen year old and observe the genuine joy as he pours his own root beer into the cup and smile with kindness as it nearly overflows
•make a weird cobbled together dinner of wild rice, tofu, sugar snap peas, gluten free pepperoni and chili crisp
•build a garden box all by yourself and feel a sense of accomplishment
•stare at your lilacs, breathe them in, care not for a moment that you are allergic to them, it’s not so bad on a rainy day
•stare at a tiny bracket fungus and a partial solitary wasp nest on your old wooden deck, photograph it because you find it the juxtaposition so beautiful
•play some Blue Prince as dinner cooks
•eat dinner, and receive rave reviews from the in house food critic
•appreciate your darling pup who has been waiting so patiently for her dinner
•play trivia with your partner and your kiddo
•text with your eldest about your shared love of the transformer named Bumblebee
•take a bath infused with mandarin and bergamot and spearmint
•write your newsletter
OH! That was fun! Writing a to-do list after the fact is a brilliant way to go through the days events! Big thanks to past me for this accidental writing magic.
Love to you, and I’d be so intrigued to see your already done whimsical to-do list!
