Below. A personal essay on the importance of red. Under the 🍓🍒☎️ and daily sorting and tattoo sharing under the 🐌🐌🐌
Take pictures of 9 red things:
My favourite colour was red. From age 4 to age 33. I have so much to say about the colour red. But perhaps I’ll talk about it another time. It’s the last weekend before school starts. And my partner and I have plans to watch Alien.

Today was a genuine day off. I got up late. My children requested waffles which I made from wheat flour because my youngest has his last celiac test coming up…and he’s supposed to have gluten.
I took my pup to the dog park and sat on benches with friends while our dogs milled about. Then a friend and I walked the dog track and talked. I love this town and how many fascinating people live here. I feel grateful that some of the people will talk to me about other real things beyond the weather…grocery prices though I’m adept speaker of the common languages of the surface after years and years of customer service and practicing my ability to see if someone wants to stay closed.
I understand the protective nature of small talk. Though it’s not my way, I try to observe the situation and apply my knowledge. I’m grateful when talking turns to deeper things, because it’s easier for me.
Today I got to share my new tattoo!
I also wanted to talk about the magical and transformative experience of my second tattoo…but my partner is waiting for me to watch Alien.
*giggling* (this is often how I express joyful whimsy in text form)
Tonight my life is lovely.
I hope your last Friday of August is what you hoped it would be.
Heart,
Wake
that tattoo!!
I have a lot of thoughts about small talk. I do love and miss those deep conversations where you really get into something.
they did a study about it and it turns out lack of small talk greatly impacts people's mental health in a negative way! (the pandemic allowed for this sort of study.) so you're doing something far more important than you realize by having those tiny conversations.
Your tattoo is perfect ❤️
I love your updates
